Philosophy of Metrowest Neuropsychology Services in Boston Area

Philosophy

We believe neuropsychological evaluations should be comprehensive, yet concise.

There is often no need for multiple test sessions consuming several days, lengthy reports, or evaluations costing several thousand dollars.  There should be a focus on clearly stating test results, diagnostic clarification, and practical recommendations to address any deficits found.

Neuropsychologists should be individuals with specialized training in clinical neuropsychology from the pre-doctoral level,  through neuropsychology internship and neuropsychology post-doctoral residency.

They should be pursuing board certification, of fully board certified in clinical neuropsychology.

There should be a focus on describing a client’s strengths and skills, not only their difficulties.

All clients and their families should be treated with utmost respect and consideration, in a strictly confidential environment.

Optimally, clients and their families will feel better after a neuropsychological evaluation than before – better informed, and better prepared to meet the challenges that brought them to evaluation in the first place.

In addition to careful evaluation and recommendations, there should be consistent follow-up by the neuropsychological team: to improve understanding of a client’s long-term functioning, and ensure that recommendations are useful and in place.
